Who are we and why are we doing this?
Writing Retreats - Snowdonia was setup by the owners of two successful Guesthouses in Betws-y-Coed who wanted to offer something more than just a bed for the night and a (albeit top notch) breakfast. We decided to fulfil a need we know exists because we regularly have the same issue as everyone else time to 0urselves.
Betws-y-Coed has a rich history of the creative arts and a thriving Artists' Colony grew in the area in the mid 19th century. JRR Tolkien was widely influenced by the rugged beauty of Wales with the Elvish language being a variant of old Welsh.
As creative people ourselves we know time, or rather the lack of, is the main factor stopping us create. We all have commitments, family, friends, jobs, chores and an endless list of things we have to do before we can allow ourselves time to write or draw or be creative in any way.
This was the inception of the Writers Retreat.
